The images above are a selection of some of the work that I have produced over the last 6 months. I have ordered the work so that my design and thought process is clear. I have combined my textile work with my fashion by using it to inspire my fashion designs; I began to do this by experimenting with my textile pieces on a manikin. This process then developed to a page of initial design ideas which features large square 3dimensional shapes. I’ve also designed and made a paper corset which I made from prints of old clothing which I produced for a recycle project, I’ve also sewn into and collaged onto the large print that I have shown.
Another design project I’ve done was silhouettes, which I used modern sculpture for as my inspiration.
Studying on the foundation art and design course has really broadened my artistic range and flair, and throughout this course it has become more and more apparent to me that everything I do, no matter what the area, always develops into a study of clothes and ways of designing and bringing it into fashion, such as the jacket project which I did for Fine art which I have also shown above.
I’m very determined to succeed in the fashion industry and feel that the BA Fashion course that you offer would really be a huge stepping stone for me to develop not only as a designer but also as a person. I believe that I can achieve great things in fashion design after studying at the Manchester college of Art and Design.
